Our experienced dentist is dedicated to remaining current with the latest technology and methods of care; providing advanced treatment options for gum disease, as well as other conditions that may be harmful to your oral health and overall wellbeing. While it is very common in adults, gum disease is a serious condition, which is best addressed as soon as possible. At our office, our doctor works closely with his patients to halt the progression of gum disease and can help you maintain optimal oral health.

Gum disease, which is also known as periodontal disease, can be attributed to a buildup of plaque and the harmful bacteria that it harbors. As plaque is left to accumulate around the teeth and gums, it triggers an immune system’s response that results in the loss of both hard soft and hard tissue around the teeth. This loss of tissue can compromise a tooth’s support so significantly, to the point of losing a tooth. As with other health conditions, it is always best to catch gum disease early on if possible. When it’s caught in its initial stage, gum disease can be completely reversed with a professional cleaning and proper brushing and flossing practices thereafter. In its later stages, a deep cleaning, or laser assisted periodontal therapy may be indicated to remove harmful bacteria and damage from beneath the gumline. Wavelength Optimized Periodontal Therapy—which uses a laser to selectively vaporize inflamed and diseased tissue beneath the gumline that is inside of a periodontal pocket, while leaving the healthy tissue intact. This highly precise and conservative treatment has the added benefit of cauterizing as it goes, for decreased swelling, bleeding and healing times when compared with traditional dental instruments. It has also been shown to promote the regeneration of bone around periodontally involved teeth, which may have otherwise had an unfavorable prognosis.

If you have gum disease at any stage, you can count on our office for the gentle, conservative, and state-of-the-art care you deserve. To schedule your next appointment, call us today!
